We personally use Bark as a family and have appreciated the in depth alerts that it gives, everything from language in a text or song listened to, as well as worrisome searches. Once set up, it’s easy to use and can even be set up for text alerts.
- Covenant Eyes Accountability Software
I personally have used this on the other end of those who wish to be held accountable. I get a daily or weekly report of any potential images or searches, specifically those that are sexual in nature.
Note: It’s important to remember that no book or podcast can speak to everyone or about all things. Discretion and discernment need to be exercised, as some families will need to have more advanced conversations sooner and others will need to wait longer based on what they have been exposed too, their maturity and overall readiness for these discussions.
It’s also important to be keenly aware that 51% of boys and 32% of girls view pornography before their teenage years. Furthermore, of all reported sexual assault cases reported, 34% come from children under 12. Sadly, we live in a sexualized and broken world. We share these statistics to say that while your child may not need to discuss some topics included in these resources, for many parents, these are a Godsend.
We want to applaud you for simply having a desire to begin the conversation. Truth be told, you’re ahead of the game, and while it may be difficult to start the conversation, we are confident that your child will appreciate it in the long run.
We are praying for you! May God give you the grace, wisdom and discernment as you lovingly take a step of faith with your child.
